Who is a fit for Lorinthian's House?

A qualified adult who is 100% ambulatory and can live independently — managing their own meals, bathing, dressing, and medications without staff assistance. On the returning-citizen track, the person must be age 62 or older. We provide housing only, not care.

What does LH provide?

Non-licensed, non-medical independent housing, with a coordinated referral path and a clear placement response. We connect residents to outside community resources where appropriate.

What does LH not provide?

No medical care, nursing, personal care, medication administration, treatment, supervision, or 24-hour monitoring. We are housing only — not assisted living, a halfway house, or a treatment facility.

How do I refer someone?

Submit one referral through the Housing Placement Desk. A short preliminary placement check confirms fit, then qualified referrals move to full placement screening. You receive a clear response.

Does the age 62 rule apply to everyone?

No. The age 62+ rule applies only to the returning-citizen housing track. Veterans, independent adults with disabilities, and general independent adults do not carry that age requirement.

Does having benefits qualify me for housing?

An appropriate, verified income or funding source is required, but age or benefit receipt does not automatically qualify anyone for any benefit or placement. LH does not determine benefit eligibility.

What is the current capacity status?

General availability is shared on the bed-availability page by population. Exact bed-level inventory is not published publicly for privacy and security — check with the Housing Placement Desk for specifics.

Can you house someone being discharged from a hospital?

For medically cleared, 100% ambulatory adults who can live independently, yes — a discharge housing referral can be submitted. Housing only; the person must manage their own daily routine and medications.

How does a property partnership work?

We evaluate residential properties for structured housing partnerships — lease, master lease, lease option, operating agreement, possible purchase, or donated-use where appropriate. We do not guarantee rent.

Can my agency reserve beds?

Discuss reserved or contract bed pathways with the Housing Placement Desk. We are building capacity in a pilot phase and will coordinate dedicated capacity as it becomes available.

Do I need a VA housing payment to be considered?

No. You do not need to draw a VA housing payment to be considered. An appropriate verified income or housing-funding source is required. We do not claim VA funding, GPD, SSVF, or HUD-VASH status.

What happens after I submit?

The Housing Placement Desk returns a clear, honest placement response with next steps and follows up. The outcome is never guaranteed — fit and availability are screened against the independent-living and funding standard.

Does Lorinthian's House provide 'felon-friendly' or halfway house housing?

No. Lorinthian's House NC provides non-licensed, non-medical independent housing. It is not a halfway house, a treatment facility, or a supervised program, and it is not positioned as 'felon housing.' Our housing is for qualified adults who are 100% ambulatory and capable of independent living. On the returning-citizen track, the person must be age 62 or older.

What does "100% ambulatory" mean?

It means a person can safely move on their own — entering and exiting the residence, getting around inside, and managing daily life — without staff-assisted mobility. Lorinthian's House serves independent adults who can live on their own and do not require staff assistance to move or carry out their daily routine.

How can a probation or parole officer get housing for a client?

An officer can submit a referral as the supervising officer or alongside the client. A qualified client on the returning-citizen track who is age 62+, 100% ambulatory, and capable of independent living may be considered. Lorinthian's House is housing only — it does not supervise, monitor, report, or notify. Those duties stay with the supervising authority.

How does a master lease work for a property owner?

A master lease lets a property stay in the owner's hands while a housing organization controls and manages it under a lease agreement, returning it to productive use without an outright sale. Structuring terms vary by property. Property partnerships are reviewed case by case, and no rent or outcome is ever guaranteed.

What if someone needs help with personal care or medications?

If a person requires personal-care assistance (help bathing, dressing, meals), staff-assisted mobility, medication administration, medical monitoring, or 24-hour supervision, Lorinthian's House is not the right fit. We are housing only — not assisted living, a group home, or a clinical residence.

Is Lorinthian's House a veteran housing program?

Lorinthian's House NC is a nonprofit housing placement and property partnership organization. It does not claim VA funding, VA affiliation, SSVF, GPD, or HUD-VASH status unless actually awarded or contracted. Veterans who are qualified independent adults may be served; referrals for veterans begin through the same housing request path.
