For discharge planners & medical social workers

Need a Housing Option for a Medically Cleared Independent Adult?

Lorinthian's House NC provides non-licensed, non-medical independent housing for qualified adults being discharged from care who are medically cleared, 100% ambulatory, and able to live on their own. Housing only — no medical care, nursing, personal care, or supervision.

Preliminary fit check

Before You Refer: Does This Person Fit?

Lorinthian's House is independent housing, not a care facility. Use this checklist to confirm preliminary fit before you submit a referral — it saves a step and gets the right answer faster.

Medically cleared for discharge to an independent setting
100% ambulatory — moves safely on their own without assistance
Able to live independently and manage their own daily routine
Manages their own meals, bathing, and dressing without staff help
Manages their own medication (no administration or monitoring needed)
No nursing, personal-care, or 24-hour supervision requirement
Appropriate, verified income or funding source for housing
Ready and lawfully able to enter a housing arrangement of their own free will
Geographic need in Raleigh, Wake County, or the Triangle

If the person needs nursing, personal-care assistance, medication administration, supervision, or monitoring, this is not the right fit — and we'll tell you so honestly. We are housing only. Not an assisted-living, nursing, or supervised facility.

Clinical scope

Housing Only, Clearly Stated.

In plain terms, here is exactly what Lorinthian's House does and does not provide — so discharge planners and medical social workers can screen for the right fit before referring.

What LH provides

  • Stable, non-licensed, non-medical independent housing.
  • A coordinated housing referral path with a clear placement response.
  • Support connecting residents to outside community resources where appropriate.

What LH does NOT provide

  • No medical care, nursing, or clinical treatment.
  • No personal care or assistance with activities of daily living.
  • No medication administration or management.
  • No 24-hour supervision or monitoring.

The independent-living standard is firm. A person referred to Lorinthian's House must be 100% ambulatory and able to manage their own daily routine — bathing, dressing, meals, and medications — without staff assistance. We are not an assisted-living, nursing, or supervised facility.

For discharge planners

How a Discharge Housing Referral Works.

1. Screen for fit

Confirm the adult is medically cleared, 100% ambulatory, capable of independent living, and can manage their own medications.

2. Submit a referral

A short preliminary check collects what's needed to assess fit and funding. Qualified referrals move forward.

3. Receive a clear response

The Housing Placement Desk returns a clear answer with next steps — always honest about availability and fit.

4. Continue the plan

Coordinate the housing move-in and connect the resident to outside community resources where appropriate.
